![]() ![]() Guns have always had great sound and Borderlands 3 improves upon that with not only better quality audio but also more variety. ![]() The sound effects is another thing that the series has done well. The music for each planet is good and boss fight music is perfect to get the blood pumping. Music and Soundīorderlands has always had pretty decent music in my opinion and Borderlands 3 is no different. To me, the vehicular combat has taken a massive step back. Hitting enemies with your car also does next to do nothing. You don’t seem to do much damage to vehicles in vehicular combat at any level. Driving around feels good but the combat in them sucks really bad. ![]() Whilst the gameplay is fun and satisfying, there is one aspect that isn’t great and to be honest it doesn’t feel as good as previous Borderlands entries. Vladof weapons usually have drum magazines and Tediore weapons have a unique reload animations, just to name a few. Maliwan specialise in elemental weapons and guns that require a charge up. You should definitely do them.Įach weapon manufacturer has a gimmick. You should definitely do some of the game’s side missions, not only do give you XP but some of them are hilarious. Unless you go straight through story missions, which you shouldn’t, you shouldn’t come across a gameplay wall. Solo play is fun and the game is balanced appropriately for solo play. Like previous games, Borderlands 3 can be played solo and co-op. The second game built upon the first game’s gameplay so well that many expected, myself included, how Gearbox would expand and improve on Borderlands 2. Gameplayīorderlands has always had a solid gameplay foundation. It’s a shame, because Gearbox can do a great villain but it feels like a step back in that department. The twins try way too hard to be evil and edgy and most of their jokes and one liners fall flat. The Calypso Twins had potential to be great villains but they would never be able to capture the sheer excellent twattery of Handsome Jack. The story’s biggest weakness are the main villains. There are moments where Borderlands 3 tries too hard to make you laugh, with the end result being a low groan. The funny moments aren’t as funny as the previous game. It starts off well but around the half way point you can tell that the story isn’t going to be fulfilling as the second game. The story for Borderlands 3 isn’t bad but it isn’t as cleverly written or as good as Borderlands 2. Now I’m not going to give full 1000-1500+ word reviews for each part of Borderlands 3, otherwise this review incredibly long and you’ll go grey reading it.Įnough of me rambling on like a numskull, here’s the review. I’m reviewing Borderlands 3 and all of its major DLCs in one article. Why not repackage what I have already done and turn it into something different.Īll of the “major” DLC is now out for Borderlands 3 and so I decided to a big bundle review. The Borderlands 3 review has sat unfinished in my drafts for a while now and I was thinking of just deleting it. I was originally going to review Borderlands 3 after I completed it but unfortunately, I never got around to it. While it's unlikely that Season Pass 2 will introduce better jokes, the Designer's and Director's Cuts should give Borderlands 3 players a lot more cause to tolerate a few unfunny goofs. This review is going to be a bit different to the others that I have done on this site. Borderlands' signature style of off-kilter humor, in particular, is beginning to grate with fans. The enigmatic Arms Race mode should encourage players to come back to the game as well Gearbox has made a big deal about how drastically the mode will change up the core gameplay fans are used to.įans still have a lot of love for the satisfying progression systems and hectic gunplay of Borderlands 3, but there are certainly some aspects in which the series has aged less than gracefully. Giving each character new progression systems is an excellent way to make a game like Borderlands 3 worth replaying fans should have a lot of fun seeing how the new ability options can help them create their ideal vault hunting build. If Gearbox is indeed trying to go toe-to-toe with Destiny 2, this seems like a solid way to do it. ![]()
